Holothrips hagai Okajima, 1987

The genus Holothrips is characterized by the long, slightly thick maxillary stylets and fusion of antennal segments VII and VIII. This species is widely distributed south of Honshu including the Ryukyu Islands and has also been recorded from Taiwan and China. It lives on dead branches. It is very similar to H. yuasai also from Japan, but the antennal segments IV–VI of this species are uniformly brown, while in H. yuasai the basal 1/3 of each segment is pale. Fungus-feeder.
